HP 650 or 750 driver.
To set printer preferences
1 From the Tools menu, choose Preferences.
2 In the Preferences dialog box, choose the Printer tab.
3 To create a new printer or plotter, see "Creating a New Printer or Plotter."
To reconfigure a printer or plotter, see "Reconfiguring a Printer or Plotter."
Once the plotter is configured select print and the print dialog box will open.
Select the driver just added in the previous steps.
Set up all user defined selections such as page size, pen information, etc
(see setting up pens below)
Place a check box in the plot to file box (if you wish to create a plot file).
If writing a plot file click on file name, select the destination drive and fill in the file name if you wish to change the default name (this will default to the drawing name and can be left alone)
Click on OK and the file will be generated to the destination drive selected above or sent directly to the plotter if not writing to file.
"Creating a New Printer or Plotter."
To add a new printer or plotter
1 On the Printer tab, choose New.
2 In the Add a Printer dialog box, select HP-GL/2 from the list of available printers.
3 Select Design Jet 650 or Design Jet 750.
4 In the Add a Description box, enter a description for the printer you want to add.
5 Choose OK.
6 The AutoCAD Text Window is displayed so that you can configure the new printer. Respond to the prompts.
When you have responded to all the prompts, the Preferences dialog box is displayed again. The name of the printer you just configured is displayed in the list.
7 To make the new printer current, select the new printer name and choose Set Current.
8 Choose OK.
To reconfigure a printer or plotter
1 On the Printer tab, select the name of the printer you want to reconfigure from the list of configured printers and plotters.
2 Choose Modify.
3 In the Reconfigure a Printer dialog box under Description, enter a new description.
4 Choose Reconfigure.
5 The AutoCAD text window is displayed so that you can reconfigure the printer. Respond to the prompts.
When you have responded to all the prompts, the Preferences dialog box is displayed again.
Choose OK.
Pen Configuration
To plot black and white files you must map all pens to black. This is done by changing all pens to pen 7. Example color entity 1 to pen 7, 2 to 7, 3 to 7 etc. You are still able to control pen thickness for each individual pen number by changing the pen thickness for each individual pen. The reason you must change this is because Acad sends this information as color code, which a black and white machine will convert to gray scale. Pen 7 in Acad is black and will send just black and white code.
For Repro Desk configurations set the pen information to 1=1, 2=2, 3=3, 4=4 etc. all the way to 255 so the entity and color number are the same.
Pen configuration 1 will work on Repro Desk as long as you do not need to change the width through the Repro Desk software after the file is written. Pen configuration 2 would be used if you want to create a Repro Desk pen set as we need pen 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
